ESPN's Newest Fan

Cleaning out closets often works out well for Abby and Evan. The other day they ended up with an  old radio.  Of course, Abby took to this thing like a fish to water.  She was in her closet tuning in the stations with the volume all the way up.  The girl loves dancing, and some of her favorite artists are Johnny Cash and "Dolly Partner" but with it switched to AM she was not having much luck finding them on her radio.  But she did find ESPN radio and hear them talking about her beloved Cardinals.  Boy, her ears perked right up.  Every time they would say something she would run into the next room excitedly to repeat what it was. "Mama! David Freese struck out twice last night!" or "They are going to come back after the commercial to tell us what Tony La Russa is up to!"  She probably does not even realize who Tony La Russa or David Freese is or even know what it means to strike out, sad to say! But maybe she will know more now that she has ESPN radio and the world of sports at her disposal.

Evan likes the radio, too, but he, like Brooke, is more interested in the radio when it is playing music.  As a matter of fact, Brooke and Evan were fighting over the radio just the other day.  Evan found it, turned it on and made the mistake of putting it within Brooke's reach.  She latched onto it and wanted to carry it around and messed up the station that was playing.  Naturally, Evan took it away and hid it under a couch pillow, but Brooke saw him do it so she went after it causing Evan to push her to the floor.  And oh, does Brooke have a temper. When that little girl does not get what she wants, she is angry!  In the end, Mom took Brooke in a different room so she would not get pushed around so much and Evan could actually listen to the radio.

Parents understand the saying "Silence is golden" and they laugh when they see the t-shirt that says, "Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver."

In the picture, Abby and Evan cool off on a hot day with the sprinkler in the front yard.  Evan chose to wear his shirt with a soccer ball on it because his dad was also wearing a shirt with a soccer ball on it that day.  Love watching little boys wanting to be just like dad!
