We are back from the City of Brotherly Love - where Mike got to visit his lovable brother Casey. It was Abby's first time flying, and she did great both there and back. She really enjoyed looking out the window of the plane and checking to see what the other passengers were up to, and then grinning at them. It was really nice for us because our flight left early from St. Louis and we flew stand-by on an early flight (our flight was delayed) on the way back and arrived a half hour earlier than planned.
The picture is from the New Jersey Aquarium - which was a highlight of the trip for both Abby and her cousin C.J. They absolutely loved watching all of the sea creatures swimming around. It was cool and rainy that day (quite a change from our hot and dry weather streak) so it was a good day to do something indoors.
While in "the Big Pretzel" we also visited the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where Abby talked up a storm, probably to the chagrin of the tour guides. What can we say? The girl is excited about history!
Monday we made a trip out to Hershey, Pennsylvania, since this year is the 100th anniversary of the Hershey Kiss. We took the tour and trolley ride around town and of course, had some delicious Hershey's chocolate. On the way back to Philadelphia, it rained cats and dogs, Abby got sick (we are blaming something off of the salad bar at Ruby Tuesday's), and we got a little turned around - so not exactly the best ending to an otherwise good day.
By the next day, she was luckily feeling better and she was able to go see her cousin C.J. and have a little playtime with him before heading to the airport to catch our flight. For lunch, we had the famous Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, which is made with Cheez Whiz in Philadelpia, and was sort of a disappointment for me. Apparently, I am only the second person my brother-in-law knows that is not in love with this sandwich.
