The four of us had a fun day as a family today. As part of a local Strawberry Fest's activities, Michael rode a 54 mile route that passed an awful manure pit (luckily that was the low point of the ride). The kids and I met up with him after he finished the ride for some lunch with delicious strawberry shortcake for dessert. Lunch is sort of overstating Abby and Evan's meal, however, because they had no interest in eating since we were sitting so close to a playground. They both had a blast running around in the park and got free balloons to boot.
Speaking of balloons, Evan and Abby recently received a few from a generous neighbor after a birthday party. It is hard to believe the number of hours they have spent playing with such a simple toy/decoration. Michael thought he would amuse them by sucking some of the helium out and saying something funny. After three or four attempts failed at making Abby laugh, she looked at her deflated balloon and said, "Daddy just ruined my balloon."
