Going Postal

 Throughout the summer we have been doing fun little projects.  Writing favorite authors, making art projects, going on some local outings, and taking trips to visit friends.  Unfortunately the outstanding July heat made us scale back the number of outdoor adventures we had planned, but that is okay, we have not found ourselves bored yet this summer. 
One fun project in July was when cousin CJ's birthday came along.  We hope he had as much fun with this as our kids in did.  For his birthday we decided we would send him a series of fun little gifts just as they were in their packages in the mail that way he could open up the mailbox on about six different days and see a little gift waiting for him in there from us. We did not wrap these items, we just put a bunch of clear packing tape on them and mailed them hoping they would make it okay!  We read up on some kids that did a similar project and had good results so we thought we would go for it and it could be fun for the giver and receiver.  The kids had fun picking out the gifts, going to the post office, picking out, buying, and putting on stamps, taping the packages and dropping them in the big blue mailbox.  Even Brooke had fun with this because she thought she was big stuff sitting on the counter at the post office when we bought stamps.  The women at the post office just love her and she loves the attention.
