The verdict is in: Abby has Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease (not to be confused with foot-and-mouth disease that occurs in livestock). Where she picked up this highly contagious disease, we aren't sure. HFMD is a common illness for children ages 6 months to 10 years. There are a few bumps on the back of her throat and one on her cheek and those could last up to a week and then we will be in the clear.
In light of her diagnosis, we have made the decision not to accompany Mike to Kansas City so that Abby can recuperate.
